I had already received a despairing letter from poor Sister Zita. I feel morally certain she would not succeed if we took her back again. She had long become quite unfitp2for the life of a Lay Sister[1] before we parted from her, and she has got on far better at Courtrai than she did with us.[2]
I am most grateful, dear Reverend Father, for all you have done for this poor soul. The nuns are to be much congratulated at getting you for Chaplain.[3]
I have a niece professed in the Convent, Sister Margaret Mary. She told me of the death of l'Abbé Isaaq.p3Now as the name of that good priest appeared in the English Catholic Directory,[4] as an English speaking confessor at Bruges, do you not think, dear Reverend Father, if poor Sister Zita was placed in one of the Convents at Bruges where persons are received as at St. Charles, you would be able to hear her confession once a week?p4If you do not approve of this, who shall I advise her to select as confessor?
There is so much good in the poor Sister, one wishes to help her as far as possible. -
