I fear Mr Weale must be back from Germany by this time – What I wanted if ever he knew a means of getting them was a good map of Europe and the world (I believe the Germans to be famous for their maps) and some good slides for a magic lantern – I have been told that in Germany, they paint Scripture subjects on their p2slides -
And now with respect to our Orphanage. I cannot unfortunately send you a Prospectus just at this minute as we are out of them, but I can tell you the chief conditions
For English Orphans – 8 £ per Annum the first year, & 6 £ for each succeeding year until 18 years of age when we undertake to place them – also a small trousseau of which we give the list or 2 £ instead of it -
For Belgian Orphans we ask 8 £ every year until 18 years of age, & the trousseau or 50 francs instead of it – Belgians have the advantage of learning the three languages if they are p3placed with us, but our first object is to help England -
Our Boarding is flourishing too. We have e very nice French young lady from Versailles as Governess, to preserve purity of accent.[3] The Bishop gave us leave to assume the white Dominican Habit on Rosary Sunday .-[4]
I forgot to mention, we do not like to receive orphans after 12 years of age -
