Bernard is to make his first Communion on Corpus Christi.[1] I wish so much that you could come over-night so as really to be present as his Communion. I do not know if this will be possible for you, but if you could manage it, it would give us so much pleasure.
I told Canon Bethune that I was going to write and ask you to do so, and he particularly told me to impress upon you, that ifp2you come he would have a room at your disposal,[2] and would be vexed if you stayed any where else.
I had hoped to have seen you at Courtray on Monday but my little Frances has been so very ill, and I have been quite knocked up with nursing her day and night so that I have been obliged to give up the idea of going to Tournay,[3] and so I mean to have Ethel down for Corpus Christi instead.
If you can come the day before, I would ask the nuns to let Ethel go as far as Courtrai alone, and then she could come from there with you. Will you let me know, as soon as possiblep3which day you come so that I can write to the nuns and arrange about her coming.
I am so sorry that Mr Weale will not be back from England[4] in time for Bernie’s feast He and Willie and Sybil are away and Frank of course so that I have got but a small family about me just now
Do not forget to pray for Bernie, and do please try and arrange to come over-night
P.S. Dont forget to write and tell me if you can come
