I am so anxious again about that book, for I could not find your letter anywhere at the time I wanted to send it off. so asked my son to post it for me, I putting on my letter to you the same address that the Curé of St Anne’s Bruges gave me[1] This my son[2] copied. I have just found your letter & find it is such a different address that until I hear from you I shall fear it has miscarried. I must ask Our dear Lady to take care of it, & deliver itp2safe to you. The address put on both Book & letter was
Le Revd Père Gezelle
Prêtre
Courtraî
Belgium
I have now written your correct address in my “Direction Book” so shall make no more mistakes & hope to hear from you sometimes. Belgian Catholic news will always interest me, & news of yourself.-
I am recovering very slowly from the Influenza, it has left me so weak the leastp3cold wind &c affects me. & I have so little appetite. I am quite ashamed of myself to find how fanciful I have become - as to what I can eat. The Doctor owned that though he found my pulse so very very low, & I so far from well, he can do nothing. I must avoid cold winds, eat a little & often - & take what I can to strengthen me - He advised change of air - But I am not sufficiently well off now to afford such changes, besides so many people go travelling about in search of health to no purpose - I prefer Home, & trust in God, - and only hope Ip4I shall bear my weakness as God wishes me - I could not have such care as my dear children give me, anywhere else. I have a little grandson[3] here I am preparing for his first confession, & teaching also, preparatory to his going to some school - His mother[4] very ill, & a large family with very little means, so I am pleased to find my time when confined to the house is not idle, & I have many other duties at home to occupy me - Pray for me - ,
I hope I shall soon hear that book & letter reached you safely -
